Job Title: Horticulturist (Level I) – Estates/Grounds
Location: RHS Hyde Hall
Salary: £20,842 - £22,146 per annum dependant on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, any 5 days in a 7 day period
Contract: Permanent
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Horticulturist Level 1/Estate Grounds Person to join the team at RHS Garden Hyde Hall in Essex.
We are a garden of 365 acres that ranges from intensive horticulture to establishing woodland and with over 360,000 visitors per year; the outer estate plays a lead role in attracting a wider audience. With the addition of new visitor facilities, the garden and estate continues to undergo extensive ecological improvements, helping us to deliver our commitment to Biodiversity. We welcome someone with enthusiasm and the desire to learn, so keen experienced horticulturists with well-rounded practical estate management skills are invited to apply.
Applicants for the position should have some previous experience in woodland management/ecology, experience in grassland management on a range of grass types including wild flower meadows. Duties include mowing, strimming, hedge cutting and the use of Three Point Linkage and PTO driven equipment, so strong practical skills are essential, as is a full manual driving licence. The ability to work well within a team and maintain effective communication is essential. Experience in dealing with the public is necessary along with providing guidance to students, apprentices and volunteers.
