Job Title: Head of Plant Health
Location: RHS Garden Wisley
Salary: £52,367 - £66,263
Hours: 37.5 per week
Contract: Permanent
The RHS is looking to recruit a Head of Plant Health to work in the new RHS Science Centre at RHS Wisley Garden to be part of the Science and Collections Management team. You will head up and lead the RHS plant health team (25 staff) in providing authoritative and up-to-date advice on garden pest and disease problems, develop and expand the research programme; maintain awareness of biosecurity and plant health issues with respect to horticulture/gardening and advise the Society.
Applicants should have a PhD in entomology, plant pathology or related subject. Successful candidates will have significant post-doctoral research experience, strong communication skills and expertise in the management of teams, obtaining research funding and budgeting. An interest in or understanding of horticultural sciences and gardening will be of value, as well as evidence of communicating to audiences of varied technical ability.
